VoltCoach is an unofficial community app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Tesla is a trademark of Tesla, Inc. and is used only to identify compatible vehicles.
General information only
Lessons, checklists, range and cost estimates and other content are general guidance written in our own words. Always follow your vehicle's owner's manual and the manufacturer's instructions. Menu names and steps can change with software updates. VoltCoach is not a substitute for professional service, and we are not responsible for decisions made using the app. For safety issues, stop and contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
Charger and trip information
Charger locations, availability, speeds, prices and range estimates come from third-party sources and your inputs and may be wrong or out of date. Plan with your vehicle's own navigation and confirm before relying on a route.
Shop and affiliate links
We link to third-party retailers. Prices, fit and availability are set by the retailer and can change. Check fit for your vehicle before buying. Some links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission.
Your content
You own the photos, documents and notes you add. You are responsible for keeping backups and for what you share.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app, attempt to break it, or use it in a way that breaks the law.
Fair use of live Tesla data
VoltCoach reads your car's data through Tesla's official connection, and Tesla charges for each request the app makes. To keep the service dependable and affordable for everyone, the app limits how often it asks:
- Live readings: at most once every 5 minutes, and at most 50 times a day on each phone.
- Release notes and car alerts: at most once every 3 hours.
- Car location map (only if you turn it on): at most once every 10 minutes. The last known spot is kept on your phone only.
- Charging history: synced once a day.
- Remote wake-ups (Pro): VoltCoach wakes your car only when it is asleep and has to do something you asked for, such as a control you tap, an automation you set up, or an alert button. Each car gets 150 remote wake-ups a month, shared by all of these, and the count resets on the 1st. Anything done while the car is already awake doesn't count. A car is woken at most once every 10 minutes from the same phone. Waking a car uses some of its battery.
- Car controls (Pro): at most 50 commands a day for each account.
- If your car is asleep, the app shows the last reading it has and does not wake the car just to show it.
These limits may change. We may lower, pause or end live features for an account or device that makes abnormal numbers of requests, including through automated or modified copies of the app. We are not responsible for battery use or other effects of using a third-party app to read or wake your car, and some features can be unavailable when Tesla's service is down or changes.
Disclaimer and liability
The app is provided "as is" without warranties. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for losses from reliance on app content.
Changes
We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes.
